11 wheelie bins stolen in Trethomas last month

News | | Published: 12:00, Thursday May 28th, 2015.

Eleven wheelie bins were reported as stolen in Trethomas during April, Gwent Police has said.

While on patrol recently, officers came across two areas where bins were being burnt out – wasteland near Tyn Y Wern Terrace in Trethomas and the quarry on the cycle path which runs from Trethomas to Machen. Sixteen bin axles were found at the two sites.

Police have urged residents to be vigilant and warned those responsible that criminal damage can carry a custodial sentence.

Bedwas Sergeant, Sarah Greening said: “These are mindless act with potentially dangerous consequences. If caught and prosecuted, arson, and endangering life, can hold a maximum of life in prison. Arson, and not endangering life, can hold a maximum of six month in prison.

“Officers will now be patrolling these areas and I’d like to remind the community to please ring 101 to report any suspicious activity.”

Almost every morning there is evidence around Caerphilly Town of attempts to set fire to these plasic bins. It seems it is a preferred pass time of people with nothing better to do.

A very elderly residents in the town, in his own back garden, was recently hit at the top of his chest by `Large Pebble`, the size of a fist, and inches to the left or right would have seen him hit on the head by this missile, the culprit was identified, was alledgedly seen by Community Support Officers who `warned` him about his `behaviour`.

it is not surprising that this level of `currently` low level lawlessness is going largely unpunished, but, it may not be too long before someone is seriously injured, or worse. or property in which people live being effected by burning plastic bins, this is undetected and un-dealtwith lawlessness, someone has to get a grip in confronting these issues in the interest of good and acceptable public order in the and around Caerphilly..
