Gwent Police have warned residents in the Blackwood area to be vigilant after a spike in thefts over the last month.
Thieves have been targetting houses in the day time, amainly gaioning entrance through rear doors.
The police warned residents to take extra care and report any suspicious activities.
The streets targeted include Sunny View in Argoed where cash and jewellery was stolen, Rushmere Road, Cinnaber Drive and Fleur De Lys Avenue in Pontllanfraith and St Annes Road, Bonnie View in Blackwood, where keys were stolen during a distraction burglary.
Cash and jewellery was stolen from Pwllglas Road in Cefn Fforest and jewellery was stolen from Golwg Y Bont, Upper Trelyn.
Blackwood inspector Carl Williams said: “We are currently investigating each reported crime and asking residents to secure their property.
“Extra patrols have now been put in place by uniformed and plain clothed officers, we also have a tasking team of officers being deployed over the weekends.
“I also want to remind people not to leave valuable items on view or in reach of open windows, especially as the weather improves and people tend to leave windows and doors open.
