Caerphilly and Bargoed Masonic Lodges donated more than £11,000 to charity on October 30.

Alan Gardener, who is the Assistant Provincial Grand Master for the Province of South Wales, presented 22 cheques in total, including to Trinity Fields School, Breast Cancer Wales and the British Legion.

Money was donated by ‘Freemasonry in the Community’, where cash was raised for charity at summer and Christmas fayres, held at the Twyn Centre in Caerphilly, and the Big Cheese festival.

The recipients included the Alzheimer’s Society, Church View Care Home, Urology Royal Gwent, Caerphilly Ladies Choir and The Caerphilly Miners Project.

Caerphilly MP Wayne David also spoke at the presentation.
