Caerphilly town’s Christmas lights switch-on took place on November 20, with the help of Father Christmas and characters from Disney’s Frozen.

Choirs from Twyn Primary School, Plas-y-felin School, Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Caerffili and Ysgol Gynradd Gymraeg Y Castell, together with the Caerphilly Community Chorus opened the festivities at the Twyn Community Centre.

Father Christmas was joined by Elsa, Anna and Olaf from Frozen and gave out sweets to the crowd of excited children.

Insurance company consructaquote.com donated £1,000 towards the Christmas lights, which cost £8,000 and were funded by Caerphilly Town Council.

The Santa is hardly Richard Attenborough and I doubt the costumes of the frozen characters will be appearing at Walt Disney World any time soon. I like the idea of a switch on event but it needs to be carried out well.
