Delays on the M4 are expected until lunchtime today after an early morning fatal crash.

At around 4.10am on Monday December 14, Gwent Police received a report of a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the M4 at the Tredegar Park intersection Junction 28.

Police said a 56-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene while a 29-year-old passenger was uninjured. Both the driver and the passenger are from the Republic of Ireland.

A 45-year-old man from Merthyr Tydfil has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “Drivers should expect delays eastbound on the M4, with only one lane currently open. Drivers are advised to plan their journeys to avoid this area. The travel situation is anticipated to continue until lunch time today.”
