Cash For Clothes based on the Western Industrial Estate in Caerphilly town has helped raise more than £4,000 for the Nepal appeal.

The country was struck by a devastating earthquake in April this year with thousands dead and many more left homeless.

Mike Bushell, from Cash For Clothes, explained: “Derek Bartle, my business partner, contacted the Gurkha Mandalay company, who are stationed at the infantry battle school in Brecon, to see if we could help.

“We have been able to raise over £4,000 and have donated many items to assist them in raising funds for the appeal.”
For its efforts, the company has been presented with a certificate of appreciation and a traditional Kukri knife, used by Ghurka soldiers.

Mr Bushell added: “We are very proud to help the Gurkhas and their people by supporting them in any way that we can. They have been fighting for the UK since 1815, so it’s great that we can give a little back.”

• Cash For Clothes is appealing for donations for brand new boxed items for a Christmas raffle to raise more money for the Nepal appeal.
