Around 2,500 residents and visitors gathered for a Disney inspired lantern parade on the streets of Caerphilly town centre last week on Thursday, December 17.

Families arrived in their droves with their home-made lanterns, most of which had been made in the workshops held at local leisure centres, to light up the streets, setting off from Caerphilly Railway Station.

Thrilled youngsters, some in fancy dress costumes, proudly paraded through the streets amidst the crowds which had gathered to watch the annual event.

The popular event which this year featured special guests Monsters Inc’s Sully and Frozen’s Elsa, culminated in a spectacular fireworks display over Caerphilly Castle.

Cabinet Member for Regeneration, Planning and Sustainable Development, Cllr Ken James, said: “It was wonderful to see so many families come down and join the parade this year.

“Seeing so many happy faces is one of the main reasons we organise this very successful event.”
