Gas pipe upgrade works in Penyrheol and Abertridwr finishing for Christmas break

News | | Published: 10:00, Wednesday December 23rd, 2015.

Wales and West Utilities has stopped gas pipe work in Penyrheol and Abertridwr for the Christmas period.

The gas pipe replacement work taking place on the B4263 Abertridwr Road stopped last week.

The work to replace 2km of old metal gas pipe with new plastic pipes will restart on January 4 and will continue until January 10 without the need for temporary traffic lights.

From January 11, traffic management will be required to finish this phase of work. It is anticipated that all work will be finished by the end of March.

Wales and West Utilities programme controller Melanie Hole said: “We are closing our site for the Christmas period and will restart work in Abertridwr in the New Year. The next phase of work requires some traffic management to be in place from 11 January and we’ll let people know exactly where our temporary traffic lights will be, once we get back on the job in January.

“This work represents a significant investment for us at around £200,000 and will support Penyrheol and Abertridwr now and into the future. Once again, we’d like to thank local people for bearing with us whilst we carry out this essential work in their community.”
