Events announced as part of Caerphilly County Borough’s local development plan consultation

News | | Published: 13:55, Friday February 12th, 2016.

A series of eight public events are to be held to let residents have their say on a controversial planning blueprint which could see green spaces across Caerphilly County Borough built on.

Last week, councillors approved a draft Local Development Plan (LDP) for the county borough, which sets out what areas can and cannot be built upon – much to the anger of protesting residents.

If given final approval by councillors, thousands of new homes could be built on green belt.

The draft LDP proposes to extend the boundary of Caerphilly town.

A new road could be built between Van Road and the A469 Mountain Road, to support the development of between 450 and 500 homes on the site of the former Ness Tar Plant and the surrounding land of Nant y Calch Farm.

Also included is the potential to allow 1,700 homes to be built in Maesycwmmer.

The most recent vote by councillors means the draft plan is effectively set for its next stage to adoption – a public consultation lasting until March 23.

Consultation documents are available to view online at www.caerphilly.gov.uk/ldp or paper copies are available at local Libraries, Customer Service Centres and at the Planning Office in Tredomen House, Ystrad Mynach.

Shameful! Oakdale and croespenmaen already is full of housing estates on top of each other with tiny gardens:
