Coleg Gwent Students’ Union (GCSU) has received Campaign of the Year and the Diversity Award at this year’s National Union of Students Wales Awards.
The union received the Diversity Award after introducing an LGBT+ Officer and a Women’s Officer on each of the college’s five campuses, including Crosskeys, as well as creating the role of Trans Officer.
GCSU President Austen Wright said: “It was a great surprise at the awards when our names were called out as the winners.
“Diversity is a massive issue that we focus on in college and we help support our diverse students as well as educate all the students about the struggles of being within a minority community.
“I am honoured to be working on behalf of students and the priorities that they bring forward to the Student’s Union.”
