Gas bottle in 4×4 explodes as fire crews called to deliberate fire in Phillipstown

A 4×4 was completely destroyed in Phillipstown, near New Tredegar, after a gas bottle exploded during a deliberate fire.

The cylinder exploded just as a South Wales Fire and Rescue crew arrived from Aberbargoed to tackle the blaze on Bedwellty Road.

The fire, which happened at around 8.45pm on Friday, July 29, lasted just 30 minutes with firefighters successfully extinguishing it.

A 4×4 vehicle was completely damaged by fire+a cylinder inside exploded on arrival of Aberbargoed crew to Bedwellty Rd Phillipstown at 20.46
