Vandals damage and deface Gelligaer Cemetery head stones

Cemetery head stones have been defaced and damaged by “callous individuals”, it has emerged.

Caerphilly County Borough Council’s safety team has warned residents after receiving a number of reports of anti-social behaviour at Gelligaer Cemetery.

A number of head stones were defaced, while property was also damaged.

Cllr Eluned Stenner, Cabinet Member for Environment and Public Protection, said: “I am disappointed that callous individuals have defaced headstones of loved ones and damaged property at Gelligaer Cemetery.

“Anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and Gwent Police has been informed of the recurring incidents”.

    Recently berried my husband at Gelligaer cemetery and I’m upset to see local residents walking there dogs and allowing there dogs to fowl on the ground it needs to be addressed,thise is not a one of sighting but very distressing.
