An Indian restaurant has been named among one of the best in the UK.

Castle Gate, based in Caerphilly, was named in the 2018 Restaurant Awards Welsh Edition – a list of the top 100 places to eat.

Robi Khan, from Castle Gate, said: “I feel very proud that Castle Gate has been named not just in the top 100, but the top 20 restaurants.

“It is down to the hard work from the Castle Gate team and we’d like to thank our customers.”

A spokesperson for the 2018 Restaurant Awards-Welsh Edition said: “The industry has faced a lot of challenges over the last few years but continues to support the Welsh economy by creating new jobs and leaving people who visit Wales with the best of impressions.

“Through the 2018 Restaurant Awards we have shown them that their talent and hard work doesn’t go unappreciated.”
