Man charged following Pantside stabbing

A 19-year-old man has been remanded in custody following a stabbing in Pantside, Newbridge.

David Young, 19, of Bryncoed Terrace, Penpedairheol, appeared at Cardiff Magistrates’ Court charged with possession of an offensive weapon, namely a kitchen knife, and grievous bodily harm with intent.

Young is due to appear at Newport Crown Court on June 29.

A statement released by Gwent Police confirmed the victim of the attack, a 23-year old man from Cwmcarn, suffered a stab wound to his chest and following treatment at Royal Gwent Hospital, has been discharged.

The weapon used in the incident has also been recovered by police.

The attack happened at around 7.55pm on Thursday, May 28, on Old Pant Road.
