The tournament will be played over two days
The tournament was due to be played over Saturday July 15 and Sunday 16

Caerphilly Castle Ladies and Girls Football Club have announced their 25th football festival has been cancelled due to safety concerns.

The charity tournament was due to take place on Saturday July 15 and Sunday 16, with more than 400 women and girls signed up to play at St Cenydd Leisure Centre.

To mark the milestone event, the club had teamed up with mental health charity Heads Above The Waves.

In a statement, the club has said: “It’s with a heavy heart that we’ve had to postpone our summer tournament this weekend.

“Unfortunately the decision is out of our hands as the school has informed us that due to heath and safety concerns over the weather and the condition of the pitches we are unable to hold it this weekend.

“We are currently working out the logistics to reschedule the tournament. As soon as we have more information we will contact the relevant teams.

“Please bear with us as we’re tying to organise everything and contact the relevant people. Again we are so sorry.”
