Kayley Price completed the race in under 12 hours

An ultra runner from Risca ran 101km across the Jurassic Coast over the weekend, finishing as the quickest woman and joint second overall.

Kayley Price, 29, had never ran more than 70km before travelling down to Dorset over the weekend to take-on the Maverick Jurassic Ultra.

Price, who is originally from Blackwood, completed the gruelling 101km run in 11 hours and 12 minutes.

Speaking to Caerphilly Observer about the race, she said: “I knew it was going to be painful, but you get over that barrier at some point.

“I’d done 43 miles before so I knew I had that in me, the last 20 miles was a challenge though I have to admit. The company around you really helps to get through it all.

“I was determined to finish. There was some beautiful scenery too which helps mentally I find.”

Kayley Price crossed the line overall joint second

Still a bit sore from the run on Saturday October 19, Price said how she plans on taking a bit of a break before booking some runs in next year.

“I think I’ll focus on recovery now and then step-up my training next year, maybe look at running 75km.”
