Residents thanked as gas pipe upgrade works completed

Wales and West Utilities has thanked residents for their patience after completing gas pipe upgrades in Caerphilly town centre.

A section of Nantgarw Road in Caerphilly will be closed for up to three months while gas pipes are upgraded.

A 32-year-old man has appeared in court charged with multiple crimes following an armed manhunt through Caerphilly town on Monday June 16.

Two people have been taken to hospital following a car crash on Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly.

Gwent Police was called to a property on Nantgarw Road, Caerphilly, at around 5.50pm on October 4.

Wendy Gay, 67, and David Gay, 58, were out walking when they were struck by driver Michael Saltmarsh in his white van.

Michael Saltmarsh, 48, of Station Terrace, Caerphilly, appeared at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday April 24. He admitted a total of four charges.

A 67-year-old woman has been killed and a 58-year-old man is in a critical condition after a van crashed into them.

Connor Ballett was hit along the pedestrian crossing on Nantgarw Road, next to the Piccadilly pub.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service received reports of the fire, at Castle Fish Bar, at around 10.32am on Friday, February 25.
