Gwent Police is reminding residents to check the security of their homes, sheds and garages following a recent spate of burglaries.
Since the beginning of January 2012, 13 properties in the Bedwas and Caerphilly areas have been targeted. These include Machen, Abertridwr, Graig Y Rhacca and Castle Park. Gwent Police entry has been gained through open windows and unlocked doors.
In the majority of burglaries electrical items have been stolen such as laptops and mobile phones.
PC Stuart Lewis, the Crime and Disorder Reduction Officer for the Bedwas and Caerphilly Neighbourhood Policing team, said: “We would like to remind residents to always double check that they have closed and locked their doors and windows before they leave the house or go to bed. Even if you’re in the house in the day, it’s a good idea to keep your doors locked. It’s also important that you keep your car keys in a safe place and out of sight.
“It may seem like simple advice but it’s very important that residents take steps to reduce the risk of them becoming a victim of crime. We are currently investigating the recent burglaries and I would encourage the public to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious behaviour on 101.”
Punishing the criminals would stop crime, but the police and courts are too stupid to understand that.
It`s the Politicians who don`t understand that, actually.
