Police have seized a stun gun from a property in the Graig-y-Rhacca area during a raid.

The stun gun, which is banned under the Firearms Act, was recovered as officers from the Bedwas Neighbourhood Policing Team carried out a warrant at a property in Longfellow Gardens last week, together with officers from the Gwent Police Support Group.

A 37-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of having the stun gun, contrary to section 5(1)(b) of and Schedule 6 to the Firearms Act 1968. He has been released on bail pending further inquiries.

Bedwas Neighbourhood Sergeant Paul James, said: “Local officers are working hard to keep our community safe, and we would like to thank local residents for their continued support. As always if anyone has any information that they would like to speak to us about, then they can e-mail bedwas@gwent.pnn.police.uk or ring 101.

“We also hold various surgeries in the area where people can drop in and speak to us about any local issues – you can find details on the Gwent Police website, or please feel free to chat to us when you see us on patrol in the area.”
