An infants school in Risca has been awarded for its work in promoting good health and wellbeing amongst its pupils and staff.

Ty Isaf Infants and Nursery School, Risca, has achieved the top accolade from Public Health Wales’ Healthy Schools Scheme, having been involved in the programme since 2002.

Pupils at the school are encouraged to brush their teeth after lunch, walk to school, and are rewarded for having healthy choices in their packed lunches.

To receive the award, Ty Isaf had to demonstrate a high standard in seven health topics, including mental and emotional health.
