Lidl sets out proposals for new store on bus depot site

Lidl has submitted planning permission to knock down the former Stagecoach depot building and replace it with a new supermarket.

Proposals to further develop the Ty Du site in Nelson have been submitted to Caerphilly County Borough Council.

A new operator has been identified to run Llancaiach Fawr, Caerphilly County Borough Council has announced.

The heritage site closed in late 2024 after senior councillors agreed to “mothball” the venue, which was receiving a £485,000 annual subsidy.

The purchase forms part of wider regeneration plans for Bargoed and Blackwood, which are both the subject of new town-centre regeneration plans.
