Council appoints new interim leader

Cllr Barbara Jones will take charge until a new leader is appointed.

Two tries from No8 Dale Rogers, combined with the boot of Dion McIntosh, saw Bedwas hold on for their third win of the season.

More than 70 employers and training providers attended the fair, run by Caerphilly County Borough Council’s youth service.

A council spokesperson said: “A matter has been brought to our attention involving the leader of council that requires further investigation.”

The boys are said to have been approached by the man as they walked along the canal path off Manor Road.

The Standards of Conduct Committee said a breach of conduct had been found, but no further action would be taken.

Incidents have been reported near the Pwllypant roundabout, Churchill Park and the Aber Valley.

Gwent Police say they have searched the area and have increased patrols.

The man was found dead in a house on Moriah Street.

The annual event saw more than 2,500 competitors from 75 different countries take part in a 3.8km swim, a 180km bike ride and a marathon.
