The running of Parc Cwm Darran’s visitor centre and campsite is set to be transferred from the council to a private company.
Caerphilly County Borough Council ran a commercial tender process to seek interest in running the facilities, and has now confirmed its preferred new operator.
In a statement, the council said: “Following a competitive and transparent process, the council will be moving forward with Lakeside Café and Campsite, a new organisation led by the current occupier, working alongside her business partners.
“The submission demonstrated a strong understanding of the site, a clear operational plan, and a commitment to maintaining and developing the facilities for visitors.”
But while the campsite and visitor centre – which includes kitchen space, a cafe, offices, and meeting rooms – will be managed by the new company, the council will still be responsible for managing the wider country park.
The tender process “attracted significant interest, clearly reflecting the importance of Parc Cwm Darran and the visitor centre to the community,” the council said.
The local authority confirmed it is now working with the Lakeside Café and Campsite team to “progress the lease” and added: “Further updates will be shared as plans develop.”
