Armed robbers stole a “significant amount of cash” from an Indian restaurant in Pentwynmawr.
Police are appealing for information after the Taste of India takeaway restaurant in High Street, Pentwynmawr, on Sunday April 22.
The raid happened at 9.50pm when three male staff members were inside the premises.
The two robbers are described as male, being in their early to mid-twenties, of a medium build and wearing dark coloured rain jackets.
They had their hoods up and scarves covering their faces and went up to the counter and demanded cash.
One of the men was carrying what is believed to be a hammer and the other was carrying what was described as a long firearm.
Gwent Police said the two made off with “a significant amount of cash” but would not reveal the exact amount. It is believed the robbers ran down a lane opposite which leads to a sports field.
No one was injured in the incident and there were no members of the public inside the restaurant at the time. Officers are carrying out house-to-house enquiries and looking at CCTV footage.

Such firearms offences are all too prevalent in the Gwent Police Area. And, it would appear are never solved and the gunmen not brought to justice, unless anyone knows different of course?, then perhaps the Editors of this and other newspapers could publish those statistics and give us all a bit more confidence in detection rates in our area.
