Pupils at Bedwas High School have shown their green credentials by becoming the first secondary school in the county borough to be awarded the Platinum Eco School award.

To earn the award, the school’s Eco Committee carried out a range of work to promote a green way of living to their fellow pupils, teachers and the wider community.

Headteacher Peter Ward said: “The Platinum Eco School award is a very impressive achievement, and highlights the enthusiasm and commitment to sustainable development and global citizenship by all our staff and pupils. The dedication of the Eco Committee over many years has been inspirational. I would like to thank all of the pupils who have been involved.”

How fantastic! A poxy, green flag for putting paper and plastic bottles into a separate bin.

All of their efforts and pointless and make no real difference to the environment. Them recycling is like planting a single daffodil for every forest destroyed. It's ridiculous.

Dean, just think before placing such silly statements criticising the efforts of these young folk who are getting to grips with improving the lifestyle in and around our valley. Please become more positive when commenting on youth projects.

Our youngsters need encouragement not whinging statements from those who should know better.
