Caerphilly Youth Forum’s Germany visit

News | Richard Gurner | Published: 15:00, Wednesday February 12th, 2014.

Members of Caerphilly Youth Forum travelled to Germany recently to represent Caerphilly in a European youth conference.

The conference, called ‘Our Europe’, was hosted by Caerphilly’s twin area of Ludwigsburg.

More than 90 youngsters from across Europe met for a series of debates on a range of topics including protection of the environment and sustainable development; mobility through education and forums of participation and communication.

The six young people from Caerphilly will join online discussion forums over the coming months before meeting in Strasbourg in May to present their findings to representatives from the European Parliament and the media.

Cllr Mike Prew, Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Youth Champion, said: “I am sure that the Youth Forum members acted as excellent ambassadors for Caerphilly during the conference. I am constantly impressed with their maturity and what they are able to achieve.

“I am very much looking forward to hearing the results from the discussions in May.”
