A student from Caerphilly County Borough has displayed her work at an exhibition on London’s South Bank.

Llinos James is studying for a masters in Product Design and exhibited her mobile phone app at the Made in Brunel event.

The 24-year-old former Ysgol Gyfun Cwm Rhymni pupil developed the app to help sleep apnoea sufferers.

Llinos said: “It’s a very common condition where the muscles of the throat collapse, disturbing sleep, and has been linked with a variety of serious health problems, including an increased risk of heart attack and stroke.

“Most patients have to wear a mask which provides a controlled flow of air all night but because patients are asleep they are never sure whether the treatment is working.

“My app shows them what has happened while they slept, making them feel more in control of their condition and the treatment.”

The Brunel University student’s development was displayed at the Made in Brunel Exhibition at Oxo Tower Wharf between June 12 and June 15.
