Man arrested after Pontllanfraith arson

A 48-year-old man has been arrested after a house was set alight in Pontllanfraith.

A property on Mynydd Islwyn Close, Pontllanfraith, was deliberately set on fire on Friday May 15.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service and Gwent Police were called to the property at 4.50am.

A Gwent Police spokesperson said: “Following a fire at a property on Mynydd Islwyn Close, Pontllanfraith on Friday May 15, a 48-year-old local man has been arrested on suspicion of arson with intent and arson reckless as to whether life was endangered. No one was injured in the fire.

“He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.”
