Wales’ Six Nations game against Scotland will go ahead tomorrow despite current fears surrounding the spread of coronavirus.
The Welsh Rugby Union has confirmed the clash will be played at Cardiff’s Principality Stadium.
Plaid Cymru leader Adam Price yesterday called for the game to be postponed.
The WRU said its representatives have been in dialogue with Welsh Government Health Minister Vaughan Gething, who gave information on yesterday’s Cobra meeting.
Plaid Cymru’s Mr Price said the Welsh Government and the UK Government should step-up measures for “social distancing” to stop the spread.
He said: “All mass gatherings and events should be postponed or cancelled with immediate effect – that would mean no indoor gatherings larger than 100 and no outdoor gathering larger than 500
“The Six Nations match in Cardiff this weekend postponed to a later date.
“Testing should be ramped up and temporary care units need to be set up.”
In a statement the WRU said: “Throughout the WRU Board have followed the scientific advice of government, Public Health Wales and medical experts and determined that any game would be held or postponed based on that advice.
“Enhanced facilities for hand washing and sanitisation will be available at the stadium and there are measures in place to manage any issues with attendees on the day. In addition supporters are urged to follow the advice that is widely available on government websites in relation to the virus.”
There are currently 25 confirmed cases in Wales and the Welsh Government is due to give an update later today.
A case was confirmed in Caerphilly on Wednesday – the first in Wales of community transmission.
