A temporary coronavirus test centre has been set up outside Caerphilly leisure centre

The walk-in coronavirus testing centre at Caerphilly Leisure Centre will remain open until October 12.

Based at the car park to the rear of the leisure centre, the testing site was first set-up on September 5 and was initially only planned to stay open until September 8.

The closing date of the test centre has now been pushed back for a fifth time and is now due to close on October 12.

Other temporary testing centres at Tredomen and New Tredegar have closed.

Aneurin Bevan University Health Board has said only people living in Caerphilly County Borough can use the centre.

No appointment is needed but residents do need to bring proof of ID and address.

The health board has said people should only get tested if they are suffering symptoms such as a new continuous cough, high temperature or loss of taste and/or smell, of they are feeling unwell for no reason.

Opening times are 10am to 3pm daily.

Home tests are also available.

People can also book an appointment before attending for a test. Call 0300 30 31 222 between 8am and 6pm.

For more information visit the Aneurin Bevan University Health Board website.
