A year 9 school-pupil from Caerphilly is making a name for himself on the cloths of snooker tables across the borough.
Oliver Bridle, a pupil at St Martin’s Comprehensive School, recently qualified to take part in the Wales Under-14s Celtic Challenge tournament in the Republic of Ireland at the end of the month.
He first began playing snooker aged eight years old at Trecenydd Snooker Academy, before suffering from a condition called slipped upper femoral epiphysis (SUFE) which resulted in hip surgery and consigned him to six months in a wheelchair.
Despite requiring intensive physiotherapy, Oliver became more motivated than ever to play snooker to the highest standard.
Oliver’s father, Andrew, said: “I am so proud of what Oliver has achieved he has overcome so much after having his surgery which demonstrates his passion and commitment to the sport.”
