Pontllanfraith’s Kody Davies is set to make his third appearance in Wales on Saturday, August 4 as he appears on a packed card at Ice Arena Wales in Cardiff.
Davies, 24, trains out of former world champion Gavin Rees’ Pantside Amateur Boxing Club in Newbridge.
The light-heavyweight is aiming to add to his unbeaten record, having already recorded five victories since turning professional in October 2017.
The three-time amateur Welsh champion and 2015 British champion represented Wales at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.
It will be Davies’ sixth fight in the last ten months. His last outing saw him defeat Eric Mokonzo at York Hall in London in June.
Davies, who is signed to former World Heavyweight Champion David Haye’s Haymaker Ringstar Promotions, appears on Eddy Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing JDNXTGEN show this Saturday on a card packed with Welsh boxing talent.
The show is headlined by Cardiff’s Joe Cordina. The 26-year-old lightweight fights Birkenhead’s Sean Dodd for the vacant Commonwealth Lightweight Title.
The 2015 European Amateur Gold medallist also represented Great Britain at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro in 2016.
Cordina is supported by a fellow unbeaten prospect Sean McGoldrick. The Commonwealth Gold medallist’s opponent is yet to be confirmed, but the Newport fighter will be desperate to appear in front of a Welsh crowd after his fight on the undercard of Anthony Joshua versus Joseph Parker at the Principality Stadium was cancelled in April.
If Davies is successful on Saturday night, he is expected to appear on another Welsh show at Vale Sports Arena in Cardiff on Friday, September 7.
Blackwood’s Craig Evans is also set to appear on the September card, with the 28-year-old aiming to recover from his knockout defeat to Roman Andreev for the WBO European Lightweight title in February.
