More dispersal orders are being put in place in Caerphilly County Borough this weekend in an effort to tackle antisocial behaviour.

Orders will be in place in Bargoed and Rhymney.

It is the second weekend this month where a dispersal order has been in place in Bargoed.

Police will have the power to stop people from entering these areas between this time if they believe they have engaged or will engage in antisocial behaviour.

If they return to that area after being moved on, they face being arrested.

In March this year, railings around the Bargoed Park rugby pitch, where Bargoed RFC play, were damaged, while smashed glass – believed to be from broken bottles – was left strewn across the park.

Rugby field vandals will be prosecuted, police warn

A group of around 30 to 40 youths were seen in the area at the time.

Last month, dispersal orders enforced in Newbridge, Pontllanfraith and Cefn Fforest.

In a statement, Gwent Police said the orders are being put in place as a result of increased antisocial behaviour in the areas.

Sergeant Richard Tovey, of Gwent Police said: “Antisocial behaviour negatively impacts upon the quality of life for residents and it will not be tolerated within our communities. Neighbourhood officers will be patrolling both areas this weekend and will take action against anyone intent on causing antisocial behaviour.

“We have been working with our partners including Morrisons in Bargoed to address concerns around antisocial behaviour in the car park. Any motorist caught driving their vehicle, dangerously, erratically or in an antisocial manner will be prosecuted.

“We’d ask that parents ensure they know where their children are at all times, particularly while the dispersal order is in effect. I would urge members of the public to report any concerns they have about anti-social behaviour to us by calling 101.”
