Wales’ education minister was interviewed by school pupils for their radio station while visiting Caerphilly County Borough.
Minister Jeremy Miles visited Markham Primary School following their successful inspection report and to celebrate their use of the Welsh language.
During the visit, he attended the school’s Welsh Celebration assembly and awarded children from each year group with a Siaradwr Cymraeg yr Wythnos certificate, which was awarded to them for their skills with the Welsh language.
He was also interviewed by Year 6 pupils for their radio station, Radio Markham, before having a one-to-one with headteacher Lindsey Pritchard.
Following the visit, Ms Pritchard said: “It was an amazing opportunity for us to demonstrate and celebrate all the work, that we as a school, are doing towards our new curriculum and within our community, as well as to develop and improve our Welsh language skills.”
Mr Miles said: “Diolch yn fawr to Markham Primary School for the warm welcome. I was pleased to see the fantastic work the school are doing to support the Welsh language and I enjoyed being interviewed by pupils for Radio Markham.”
