A jobs fair in Rhymney was attended by more than 100 people on Friday, April 5.
Around 30 local employers, organisations and training providers had stalls at the event, including EE, General Dynamics, Transport for Wales, BPI Recycling and Careers Wales.
The event took place at Ael-y-Bryn Community Centre and was organised by Merthyr and Rhymney MP Gerald Jones and Assembly Member Dawn Bowden, alongside Jobcentre Plus.
The fair provided job seekers and young people with information on job searching, interview tips and a chance to meet with prospective employers.
People were also able to apply for job vacancies at the event, which was officially opened by Caerphilly County Borough Mayor, Cllr Mike Adams.
Mr Jones, MP said: “I’m delighted with the interest we’ve had in the event today. There’s been a real buzz around the venue and we’ve had over 120 people through the doors.
“I also want to thank all the local employers, organisations and training providers for attending today. It’s great to see such a range of support and opportunities available to local people.”
Ms Bowden AM said: “This is the third year that Gerald and I have hosted the jobs fair and this year we want to use it as a springboard for a wider project, talking to anyone and everyone involved with developing skills, jobs and our local economy to see how we can improve opportunities for people across the constituency.”
Steve Roberts, from the Department for Work and Pensions at Jobcentre Plus, said: “The event proved a success, with approximately 125 members of the public passing through the doors. Advice and guidance was given on apprenticeships, vacancies, traineeships and more.
“The feedback from all involved was entirely positive on how productive the day had been.”
