A man has been jailed for three years after he was caught with drugs he planned to supply.

Nathan Grant, 35, was sentenced at Cardiff Crown Court on Monday (July 27).

Grant, of Shelley Court, Graig y Rhacca, pleaded guilty to possession with intent to supply a controlled Class A drug (heroin) and possession with intent to supply a controlled Class B drug (amphetamine).

On June 4, Grant was a passenger in a car heading towards Machen, which was stopped by police.

Grant was arrested on suspicion of drug offences and taken to the police station to be searched.

He was found to be in possession of heroin, with police later searching his flat and finding amphetamine.

At his sentencing, Grant was ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £190 within three months of his release from prison.

PC Rhys Jones of Gwent Police welcomed the sentence and said he hopes it “sends a message that drug supply will not be tolerated in our communities”.

PC Jones said: “We are committed to disrupting those involved in the supply of illicit drugs, bringing them before the courts and removing drugs from our streets.

“We would like to thank the communities of Gwent for their support in tackling the supply of drugs and would urge anyone with any information to get in contact so we can take action.

“Anyone with any information can call us on 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
