CELEBRATION: The school came together to mark Ty Isaf’s 50th anniversary

A Risca school has celebrated 50 years since it was officially opened in 1964.

Ty Isaf Infants and Nursery School marked the anniversary with a week of celebrations that included 1960s fancy dress and history talks, as well as a party with an outdoor disco and afternoon tea.

Headteacher Elizabeth Bain said: “It has been amazing to see the whole school – staff, pupils, governors and the community coming together to celebrate this milestone. It’s a wonderful school to be in. The pupils are delightful and the parents are so supportive.”

Pupil Tegan Meredith said: “Today has been great fun. I have enjoyed playing with my friends and having my parents here.”
