Pupils from Coed-Y-Brain Primary School in Llanbradach have written poems of remembrance to mark Armistice Day.
The Year 5 and Year 6 pupils wrote the remarkable poems from the point of view of a poppy in Flanders Field, a First World War battleground.
Teacher Michelle Jones said: “They were really inspired by reading the poem In Flanders Fields by John McCrae.
“We taught them how imagery of poppies is an important symbol in remembrance so we decided to personify it.
“They were really enthusiastic and we are really pleased with them.”
The nine to 11-year-olds have also been studying the history of WWI and WWII.
Pupils have been looking at how material from parachutes was used to make wedding dresses due to lack of money and material at the time and the weapons used during battle.
Several of the pupils read their poems out at the Remembrance Sunday service in Llanbradach on November 9.
The poems are on display at Llanbradach Library and can be viewed by clicking the links below.
