Cefn Fforest dog beating left animal with brain damage

Police are appealing for information to try and catch the person who beat a dog so badly that it may have suffered brain damage.

The attack on the terrier cross-breed, named Holly by her carers, happened on November 30 at 3pm in Cefn Fforest.

A passer-by stepped in to help the dog and stopped the attack.

Holly, as she was later named, was taken to the Bridge Veterinary Surgery in Pontllanfraith, for treatment.

At a meeting in Pontllanfraith, Don Touhig MP, Irene James AM joined chair Councillor Tom Williams to present Dr Ray with a Labour Party merit award for his selfless contribution to the Labour Party.

Dr Ray has dedicated his life to promoting equal opportunities and campaigning for improvements in the NHS.

Pontllanfraith pupils hold Remembrance assembly

Members of the Royal British Legion, Islwyn Mp Don Touhig and Islwyn AM Irene James visited Pontllanfraith Primary School for a special Remembrance service assembly.

During the service poppy wreaths were laid on a school memorial. After the Last Post was played, the Royal British Legion Standard was dipped and the whole school observed a minute silence.

After the service the pupils were given the opportunity to talk to members of the Royal British Legion about their work.
